Walking Hockey and Back to Hockey at CBN HC
At CBN Hockey Club, we offer both Walking Hockey and Back to Hockey sessions, perfect for those looking to stay active, reconnect with the sport, or try it for the first time in a fun and supportive environment.
Walking Hockey
Walking Hockey is ideal for players who want a less physically demanding version of the game while still enjoying the skills, team play, and social aspects. It’s designed to help people maintain an active lifestyle regardless of age, health, or ability. Whether you’re new to the sport, haven’t played in a while, or had to stop due to injuries or other reasons, Walking Hockey allows you to pick up a stick again in a relaxed and enjoyable environment with like-minded individuals.
Not only does Walking Hockey offer the physical health benefits of staying fit and active, but it also provides social benefits such as meeting new people, building confidence, and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team.
Back to Hockey
Our Back to Hockey sessions are perfect for those who haven’t played hockey for years or are completely new to the sport. These sessions are fun, social, and informal, providing a great way to get fitter and meet new people. Don’t worry if you’re a bit apprehensive, unsure of the rules, or concerned about not knowing anyone—our Vitality Back to Hockey coaches will guide you through a series of enjoyable and interactive sessions in a super-friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Each session will help you develop your individual skills and participate in small-sided friendly games. As you rediscover the joy of playing hockey, you’ll also have the chance to make new friends along the way.

Don't just take our word for it...
John Inverdale - BBC broadcaster
It keeps your body active, but it is also good for your mind. It's also a good way to combat loneliness and isolation because there's a very sociable aspect to the sport.
Ann - Player
I was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. I have come through chemo sessions and Walking Hockey is part of my recovery periods, to build up stamina and to get as fit as I can.
Becky McMahon - Coach
Hockey has had a huge impact on my life and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It's not just about the game, it's about the friendships, the skills, and the continuous learning.
Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests
You play Hockey, walking, not running. It’s designed to help people keep an active lifestyle regardless of age, health and ability.
Whether you’re new to the sport, just not played for a while or had to stop due to injuries or other reasons, Walking Hockey allows you to pick up a stick in a fun and relaxed environment with like-minded people.
Walking Hockey, more than a game!
As well as the many health benefits associated with most forms of physical activity; keeping fit and active, weight loss, preventing and managing many chronic illnesses, there are also numerous social benefits that come with playing Walking Hockey.
Taking time to socialise, meeting new and like minded people, building confidence and generally looking after your mental health are all part and parcel of taking part in this version of the game.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
